What does "개밥바라기" mean?
Did you think it means "개밥그릇(dog food bowl)"?
That's not entirely wrong. "바라기" once refered to  rice bowl.
"개밥바라기" means Venus.

"샛별", which means the star of dawn, is also used to call Venus.

When Venus rises in the east at dawn,

it is called "샛별" and when it rises in the west at night, it is called "개밥바라기".

It is said to be a star that appears when a dog wants dinner, so it was called "개밥바라기".

Venus is the third brightest star that can be observed on Earth.
The first is the sun, the second is the moon, and the next is Venus.
"개밥바라기" you see in the dark from the earth is devastatingly beautiful.
But in fact, "개밥바라기" is a planet with extreme conditions

where people can't even step on it due to its enormous high temperature and pressure.

Did you know that there are more pure Korean words related to stars than you think?

미리내's "미리" is a word that has changed from the old word "미르" used to call dragons. Here,

"내" means a river, so "미리내" means "a dragon river".

Because there were hundreds of millions of stars in one place that were irregularly shaped,

it looked like a huge river from Earth.

Maybe it looked like a group of dragons ascending into the sky.

What is the largest river that a person can see on Earth?
It is "미리내" in the sky.

What does "별똥별" mean?
"유성(meteor)" is called "별똥별" in pure Korean. 유성 refers to a mass of dust in outer space entering the Earth's atmosphere and rubbing against the air to emit light. It's different from 혜성(comet), which is called "꼬리별", "살별".

"별똥돌" are related to meteors.

Earlier, I said 유성 was called "별똥별".

"별똥돌" means "Dung from a shooting star." It's pure Korean for 운석(meteorite).

What kind of star is "싸라기별"?
'싸라기' means the crumbs of rice. When you say "crumbs"

you usually think of something small and insignificant.

So this means that it's a crumb star.

But does the word "crush star" only mean a trivial star?
You've probably heard of the word "금싸라기".

Just as precious objects were called "금싸라기,"

"싸라기별" also implies a meaning of being precious.

"싸라기별" can be  shortened to "싸락별".

"See countless 싸락별 in the sky. Even though they are small, they are all precious stars."
